Three rivers, three languages

As a result of the transformations after socialism, Gemer, originally one of the richest regions of Slovakia, did not have time to adapt to the free market and undergo a successful economic transformation. Mass displacement, industrial decline, and unemployment followed. The population of the region, mostly Hungarian Roma, has to resort to alternative forms of economic activities and livelihood.
