The last subway station in Kharkiv towards the north to the dangerously close border with Russia is called Heroes of Labor. Around seven hundred people are crowded in the station, who escaped to the safe underground before the airstrikes. The metro is no longer running, but it has become a safe haven for desperate residents in Kharkiv.

The second largest city in Ukraine is shelled daily by Russian rockets, which devastated a huge number of civilian buildings. Despite this, Kharkiv is trying to live at least a somewhat normal life.
